Having a ps3 refurbished unit has its own perks. While it is true that they are basically second hand models that were either given away due to malfunctions or anything else that the previous owner may have, rest assure that whatever defective part it had, it was either replaced or fixed. It should also be noted that most ps3 refurbished sale have the backward capability, which easily allows you to enjoy classic games because it will run ps2 DVD games without much trouble. It will also be the cheaper choice compared to buying a brand new unit for obvious reasons. Normally, they would be sold in half the original price and you would normally get at least a three month service warranty.

There would also be some that would offer you extended warranties. Personally, I prefer a ps3 refurbished unit as the economy is definitely unfriendly. I am also a classic game lover and there are times when I just love going back to previous editions of the games I now play in PS3. Games like Metal Gear Solid and God of War have started in the previous generation consoles and if I would buy a brand new one, I may get the extended warranties and the slim version of the console, but I can never play the old games again.
